Community Services

CLA provides services to individuals to help them access their communities and resources. This can include community safety training, money management, bus training, and accessing other businesses and services to increase independence and social skills. This helps develop natural supports for individuals in their own communities in order for them to have the greatest degree of independence from paid staff.

Under Comprehensive Day Habilitation services, we support individuals to go into the community and discover things that are interesting to them through volunteer opportunities, exercise to improve their health, and involvement in other activities aimed at helping the individual increase his/her independence.

Under Supported Living Services (SLS) we provide support with:

  • Community Connections - Accessing the community such as bus training, increasing socialization, and developing natural supports in and around their neighborhoods.
  • Respite - Providing short term relief for those who normally provide care for individuals.
  • Homemaker - Teaching basic household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, household care, etc. in their home.
  • Personal Care - Teaching basic money management, cooking, meal planning/grocery shopping, and assisting with routine doctor appointments.
  • Mentorship - Promoting self-advocacy through instruction, modeling and advising and helping the individual understand complicated health and safety issues.
